The Outdoor Education Center is located at 44th and Superior in the City of Lincoln's rustic Helen Boosalis Park. From I-80 take the 56th Street Exit and turn right onto Superior Street to 44th Street.

The park is flanked by Lincoln Trap and Skeet on the east and Salt Creek on the west. The facility is a youth and family destination for exciting educational programs in outdoor skills including hunting, shooting, boating education and general shooting sports recreation. The Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center provides eastern Nebraska with a local community based shooting sports recreation center that serves a large shooting sports population but also focuses on recruitment efforts to reach youth, families, and special interest groups.

Bring your own equipment or rent equipment.  We offer individual instruction to get you started and youth as well as adult archery equipment and .22  rifles.

Event Highlights at the Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center

Take advantage of our $5 Fridays!

Set aside a half hour of your day on Fridays to hone your shooting skills at the Outdoor Education Center's shooting ranges. Plan it over your lunch hour or any time between 12- 8 pm. every Friday. Bring your own equipment or use ours. Archery or firearm take your choice. We will be waiting.

Special Pricing to Sight in Your Hunting Firearm
Get prepped for hunting season with the Outdoor Education Center! On October 10-11, 17-18, and 24-25, we are offering special pricing to sight in your hunting firearm*. Shoot for up to an hour on our 25 yard indoor range for just $10 per gun. Staff will be on hand to lend advice and assistance as needed.

*Regular facility caliber restrictions apply.

Shootout at Salt Creek

Adult Shooters will be challenged with a timed stage of 10 pistol, 10 rifle and 4 shotgun rounds. Shooters will furnish their own guns and ammunition for the event. The cost for the event will be $10.00.  Young Shooters will be able to compete in the Buckaroo Event, with a timed stage of 10 .22 pistol, 10 .22 rifle and 4 .410 shotgun rounds. The cost of the event will be $4.00.  Cowboy clothing is recommended but not required for “City Slickers”, though this is part of the fun. Events Offered on a Regular Basis:

Explore Archery

This is fun and perfect fit for archers of any age/ ability wanting to get involved in the sport of target archery. If you are new to the sport of archery or a beginner archer looking for an introductory program to sign up for, Explore Archery has what you need to get started! You'll learn important skills like range safety and proper shooting form, play exciting games and earn achievement awards. Ages 8 and over Equipment provided Learn Range Safety, parts of a bow and arrow and fundamentals of archery shooting.

$30.00 per quarter +membership in USA Archery. All equipment provided.

JOAD(Junior Olympic Archery Development)

This USA Archery program runs quarter to quarter. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a minimum of 10 weeks. This program will include achievement awards, skill training and games with focus being on skill development..

No equipment required.
Instructors on hand to teach skills, work at your own pace.
Cost is $30.00 per quarter + membership in USA Archery.

Families on Target
Cost Archery: $12/Family
(includes bow and arrows)
Cost Firearm: $5.50/shooter
(.22 rifle and 25 rounds)
Sign up as a family or individually. Suggested participants age 8 and over.

Dad's Day at the Range
Dad bring the kids out to the range to spend some quality time.
