The Youth Fishing Program

Fishing is one of our most popular activities in Nebraska, and is certainly a great family past-time. The Youth Fishing Program is a statewide program designed to introduce kids to fishing in a safe, ethical, and enjoyable manner. Trained volunteer instructors teach fishing basics such as:

  • casting
  • knot tying
  • fish identification
  • ethics
  • regulations
  • water safety

Attend “The Outdoor Discovery Program (formerly known as the Nebraska Outdoor Expo) at one of three regional locations.  Same experience, new exciting name! Nebraska's largest outdoor classroom will provide students the opportunity to participate in numerous hands-on adventures!


BOW (Becoming and Outdoor Woman) Outdoor workshops

Becoming an Outdoors Woman is a program of the Outdoor Education Division of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

"Becoming an Outdoors-Woman" is a unique opportunity for women to learn skills associated with a variety of outdoor recreation activities. Bow is a program designed to encourage women to become active participants in the great outdoors; including activities related to hunting, camping, boating, backpacking and hiking and fishing to name a few.
