Report a Boating Accident | Form to Submit a Boating Accident
The operator of every vessel involved in a boating accident is required to file a written report in duplicate, whenever a boating accident results in loss of life, disappearance of a person, loss of consciousness, medical treatment, or disability for more than 24 hours, or property damage in excess of $500. Reports in death, disappearance, and injury cases must be made within 48 hours; reports of other cases are required within five days.

This section contains information on Nebraska Boating Regulations that are in addition to the Federal Requirements covered in the Basic Boating Course. If you have not reviewed the course schedule, please do so now. Boating Courses

How to Choose the Right Life Jacket

A wearable life jacket for each person must be aboard.

These life jackets must be…
• U. S. Coast Guard approved
• The proper size for the intended wearer
• In good and serviceable condition
• Properly stowed (readily accessible)

When a vessel is underway with children under 13 years old, they must be wearing a life jacket unless they are below deck or in an enclosed cabin. Note: On some state waters this age requirement may vary. Boaters are encouraged to check with their respective state boating authority regarding these requirements.
